Summary: "Ford emergency food vans on street feeding service in Edinburgh beginning November 1941" and "Ford emergency food vans on street feeding service in Southampton February 5th, 1942"
Description: In Edinburgh, women load food containers into a mobile canteen van. A woman (standing outside the van) takes money and hands out food to a few women and children who bring their own bowls and dishes. The van is identified as being "Maintained voluntarily by Alexanders Ltd, Semple St." In Southampton, a mobile canteen leaves a Ford garage after a brief inspection. Containers of hot food are loaded aboard. In a city street, a woman sells tickets to waiting civilians next to the van. The van is then opened up and food and drink is served (in exchange for the tickets?). Several shots show food being served to waiting people from vans in streets - the legend on the sides of the vans state that they are maintained voluntarily by "Percy Hendy Ltd" and by "South Hants Motor Co". A final shot shows one of the vans closing up and driving off. Most of the Southampton section appears to have been filmed in a snow shower (possibly simulated).
