Revolusi! IWM licenses content for major exhibition
The Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam have licensed archive footage and stills from IWM's film collection for a major new exhibition
Revolusi! Indonesia Independent offers an international perspective on the struggle for independence of Indonesia from the Dutch Colonial Empire during the 1945-1949 period, before the country’s freedom was finally accepted in The Hague.
The exhibition, which will travel to Indonesia next year, is a collaboration between Dutch and Indonesian curators and explores themes such as nationalism, anti-colonialism, propaganda and refugees.
"It was a joy to work with your new HD clip supply system. Thank you for this great service!" Maria Smit, Rijksmuseum
Historical footage licensed from the IWM film collections includes a newsreel by Berita Film Indonesia, the first government-owned film production company of Indonesia, as well as footage produced by the British Army Film and Photographic Unit depicting political unrest.
Film clips projected on the wall inside the exhibition document this pivotal period of Indonesia’s turbulent past. Film stills were also produced by IWM's inhouse technical team for the exhibiton catalogue.
