Summary: 1st Battalion of the Royal Northumberland Fusiliers celebrate St George's Day in Cairo, Egypt, by marching through the streets on the way to the Cathedral carrying uncovered colours for the first time in the city. They place roses in their caps. On arrival at the Cathedral the colours are handed to the Bishop who places them on the altar during the service. After the service the colours are handed back to the Battalion who then march past the GOC, Lieutenant General R G Stone.
