Summary: "First Topical to be taken in Ystalyfera" records all sections of the local community walking towards and gathered at the unveiling of the First World War Memorial.
Description: Opening title proclaims that this Topical (newsreel) is "Exclusive to this Theatre". Procession of police, civil dignitaries, soldiers, officers and ex-servicemen wearing medals leads way through village towards Memorial and is followed by local spectators including many children who look towards the camera. Before the ceremonial unveiling of the Memorial a passage from the Bible is read, then the Union Jack drape is removed and widows place wreaths at the base of the stone monument. A bugler plays the last post as the military and civilian parts of the gathering stand still to honour the dead of the Great War.
