AYY 240/3. 18 July. A crew mainly from a London Territorial Unit of the 64th Medium Regiment, Royal Artillery, man an American Howitzer gun. They remove the camouflage net and fuse caps and load the gun. Gun firing.
20 July. The Duke of Gloucester visits Major General Ramsden, 30th Corps, Commander-in-Chief of the Middle East Forces, at Headquarters on the Alamein Line. HRH presents medals to the 8th Army. He presents the Distinguished Sevice Order (DSO) to Lieutenant Colonels Peek and Harvey. General Auchinleck is present. He chats to Major General Gatehouse and Major General Ramsden. He departs by car.
