In Khartoum he is greeted by the Governor and driven to the palace where he takes the salute. He inspects the British Military Hospital and the Royal Engineers Omdurman Barracks. He visits the RAF mess at Khartoum and at the palace inspects a guard of honour of the 1st Battalion the Welch Regiment, the Sudan Defence Force and the RAF. He attends a tea party in a dust storm, departs from Khartoum and arrives at Asmara. He inspects a guard of honour from the 3rd Frontier Infantry Battalion and a USA Naval Project. At Massawa he inspects an American Victory Ship, SS Louise Lykes. He inspects an Eritrean police guard of honour at Asmara Airport. He departs and arrives in Aden where he inspects a guard of honour. He inspects the 5th Coastal Defence Regiment, Royal Artillery and also the Aden Camel Corps.
