Summary: Fighting in the Western Desert.
Description: A night barrage. Dawn shots of tanks moving into action. Artillery firing in front of a very large mass of transport which is lined up waiting to move forwards. Shells bursting around enemy positions. An officer observing the result of the firing. The remains of a German gunner and a destroyed enemy gun in a gun pit. A patrol of Australian infantrymen. They come across a wounded German soldier and after giving him basic first aid they prepare to bring him to headquarters. A group of dead Germans, killed in the night barrage. Heavy shell and mortar fire in the German counter attack. Tanks waiting to move forwards. Vehicles moving up in a cloud of dust in the battle area. British armour massing for the attack and manoeuvring in a sandstorm. Infantry find themselves held up by mortar fire and shelling. They take cover behind a knocked out enemy tank whilst waiting for British armour to destroy the enemy strongpoint which is holding them up.
