Description: 15 to 17 February. Number 1 Section, Number 7 Platoon with an instructor discussing tactical movements after carrying out a left flank movement. The section advancing at the double under cover of gorse bushes. The section coming over open ground. They get down and crawl. They run over open ground. The last three men getting over a fence. The section breaks cover from the shelter of farm buildings. The whole school in platoons doubling two miles to watch a demonstration. Number 7 Platoon leads followed by Number 8 Platoon and others. Lieutenant-Colonel Lee's utility truck follows. After the demonstration a section of carriers comes over a wall onto a road. On the obstacle course, a section of men make their way under a steel and barbed wire tray, coming out covered in mud. Men climbing over the top of a sandbag wall as charges explode and swimming over the stream. The leader takes a rope across. Men crossing the water. Men making their way through a wire entanglement and dropping into a trench through a smokescreen. Lance-Corporal Jarvis of the Royal Engineers presses the plunger that detonates the charge of aminol and creates a loud bang. Men crawling on their stomachs under barbed wire and come out covered from head to foot in black mud. One of the soldiers takes up a firing position after coming through the mud. A soldier comes through the water. One man crosses the water by holding onto a rope. Men charging through a smokescreen and getting over a double apron fence in an obstacle course. Men charge with fixed bayonets. Men charging an anti-tank obstacle and attempting to leap over it. Some land in the middle and make their way to the other side. Soldiers crawling under wire and waiting for the order to charge. Men charge through a sand quarry and take up firing positions. The men on the quarry silhouetted against the sky. A charge explodes as the men approach a muddy ditch and water shoots up. An explosive charge is thrown into the ditch. Men waist-high in the mud. A captain breaks for a few minutes while waiting for the next section to arrive. One man who has got stuck in the mud is helped by another with a rifle. Another man stuck is helped in the same way.
