- Description: A stretcher patient is carried into the operating theatre by two orderlies and placed on the table. Bandages are cut away from the man's leg. An anaesthetic is given by Captain C H Belam of the Royal Army Medical Corps. View of the Oxford Ether Vapouriser mouthpiece being held in place. The surgeon's assistant Captain J McKenzie swabs the wound and the surgeon Major Harper (formerly surgeon on the «Queen Mary») operates on the gun shot wound. A plaster splint is applied. The medical officer Captain C J Cobbe of the RAMC examines the patient. Two of the monks walk towards the camera outside the monastery. Sergeant Richards (from Woking, Surrey) mixes the ingredients for pastry in the Cookhouse tent. An assistant squeezes lemons. Another assistant comes in with blancmanges.
