Description: An immense column of smoke rising over the hills north of Medjez el Bab after a raid on German positions by British bombers on 24 March. Turkish army officers General Omurtak, Lieutenant-General Noyan, Major-General Menguc and several staff officers arrive at the headquarters of the 24th Guards Brigade, 1st Division at a farm south of Medjez el Bab. The party is conducted by Lieutenant-Colonel McCorquodale of the Eighth Army and is headed by the 1st Division Commander Major-General Clutterbuck. The party is greeted by the 24th Brigade Commander, Brigadier R B R Colvin and Major H Green of the 24th Brigade. The party walks through a field of corn towards a prominence overlooking Medjez el Bab. They stop and Major Clutterbuck points out places of importance to small groups.
