Summary: The continuation, in the second year of the war, of the campaign to expand Britain's agricultural acreage.
Description: Examples are shown from different parts of East Anglia and Sussex, a tractor engineer providing the continuity: in Norfolk, virgin heath is being ploughed up. In East Sussex the War Agricultural Committee has put unused housing plots under cultivation - another Sussex farm provides examples for measured spreading of lime and fertiliser in correct proportions. 'Carl', one of a group of pioneers at work clearing land, asks why England's land has not been fully used before, and the reclamation of a derelict Fenland farm is cited to show the size of effort and organisation needed. A tour of the East Sussex workshop, and the sight of work getting under way (tractors moving off, troops arriving etc) in the morning show that sufficient effort is now being applied - film ends by regretting that a war was necessary to produce it.
