Description: I. "Who's Watching the Pilot?" Squadron Leader Warner explains that personnel in a multi-crew aircraft have a duty to watch over other crew members including the pilot, with illustrations of procedures and the importance of experience.
II. "Aircraft Control Surfaces". Squadron Leader Bonsall discusses cases in which ground crew members have been hit by the control surfaces (ailerons etc) of taxiing aircraft. This is illustrated by a detailed montage of aircraft control surfaces in movement.
III. "Green Endorsement". Squadron Leader Melville-Jackson tells the story of Flight Lieutenant Chandler of 72 Squadron who saved a winchman and carried out a controlled over-pitch landing when a generator failed during a search and rescue helicopter sortie.
IV. "Practice Crashes". Wing Commander Thorpe discusses the necessity of devising and practicing crash plans, illustrated by dramatised air crash exercises at RAF Cottesmore.
V. "Accident Update". Squadron Leader Melville-Jackson looks at the demanding skills needed by pilots flying in formation and the things that can go wrong. This is illustrated by accounts of three actual incidents: (1) Tornados FL60 and FL61 colliding at night, with one pilot having to eject; (2) Collision of Phantoms in a St Andrews Cross formation, errors discussed; (3) Two Tornado aircraft on exercise; one of them crashed into the ground misjudging the proximity of another aircraft, resulting in the death of two crewmen.
