Summary: A 'Flower' class corvette in convoy-protection rôle, presented as typical of a new class of ships designed to counter the Nazi threat to British supplies.
Description:Opening shots of launchings and ship building. A corvette is seen in harbour, taking on supplies and fuel - leaving harbour and joining the convoy. Crew check guns including quad-mounted Vickers mg. and US Automatic 20mm AA gun M1 (?). Some scenes of routine & domestic life - (rum ration, caring for some kittens, fishing, message passed by message line, rough weather, meal in the wardroom). Various types of action shown - corvette shoots at a free-floating mine - launching depth charges 'against a U-boat' - fighting off an air attack. Film closes with more 'relaxation' footage (a conjuring trick) while commentary stresses once more the importance of corvettes.
