Summary: British forces in Indonesia as part of UNAMET (United Nations Mission in East Timor).
Description: I. Soldier inspects a large pile of (disassembled) machine gun parts by roadside. Gurkhas and MPs escort three East Timorese military men into headquarters, where they are photographed and led away. (Possibly rebel militia, although one has the shoulder badge of the more regular Falantil force).
II. Interview with Brigadier David Richards (Commander of British forces in East Timor) discussing the situation and the systems used to set up joint headquarters with the Australian Army.
III. Excerpts from a press conference with Major Tim Warrington (CO of 2nd Battalion the Royal Gurkha Rifles) about an operation to aid 3000 internally displaced people (forced from Lospalos to Com). Question and Answer session at the end. Major Warrington is then interviewed by the Mobile News team, as is Christopher Zinn (journalist working for the Guardian out of the Australia office); both discuss the relationship between the Army and the media. Final shot shows Major Warrington in the process of taping an interview for a television news company (whose camera crew is also visible).
