Description: Land Rovers on patrol in Basra: moving shots from top of Land Rover. Wrecked buildings are passed, and street market. Members of 2 LI set up their own vehicle checkpoint near Iraqi police checkpoint on Route 6 (the Basra-Baghdad road). Interview with Lieutenant Eoin Carsons about the purpose of the "snap" VCP as a good way of checking movements of people and tribes. Vehicles are searched and one man is detained. Lieutenant Carsons explains that the man has was found with a good condition military-issue AK47 and was also diiscovered to be carrying a forged weapons authorisation card and ID for the Iraqi Governing Council. Close shots of the (good quality) fake IDs and of the gun and ammunition. Brief piece to camera by reporter from Westcountry Television. Sniffer dog (spaniel) in action searching a car. Saxon armoured vehicle on road: interviews with crewmen Private Matthew Cocks (top gunner) and Lance Corporal Dean Webster (driver) about patrol duties, poor driving conditions and aspects of off-duty life.
