Summary:
Description: Shermans and Fireflies belonging to the Staffordshire Yeomanry's 'C' squadron and M5 half-tracks belonging to 3rd British Division's RAMC (?) assemble between Herouvillette and Escoville prior to the commencement of 1st Corps' thrust towards Troarn; the troops on board the tanks belong to the 2nd KSLI. Daimler armoured cars and White and Daimler scout cars from the Inns of Court Regiment drive past the assembled armour and infantry force to another troop concentration guarded by a 92nd LAA Regiment RA Bofors gun detachment. An abandoned German gun emplacement can be seen in the background. At one of the Orne river crossings at Bénouville, a 2nd Grenadier Firefly tank rumbles over "Euston" bridge and is followed variously by transport from a 1st Corps RAMC unit and motorised infantry from the 1st Motor Battalion Grenadier Guards. A sign erected by the 51st (Highland) Division at the bridge exit shows the distances to major cities throughout the world.
