Summary: An aircraft recognition study.
Description: In the first instance is seen a test flight of prototype W4041 which performs low passes over the camera. A landing is also shown. The next part of the record (from 696 feet onwards) is concerned with the Spitfire F 21. The machine taxies to the camera, rotates on one wheel and takes off, whereupon the pilot demonstrates the machine over the airfield. After repeating a taxi run for the camera again the aircraft is also seen in good air to air shots and again from the ground.

Notes: Shot sheet held. The Gloster jet is almost certainly at Farnborough in late 1942 and is the first prototype. The Spitfire is serial number LA188, the second aircraft of this mark produced. It was reserved and modified for high speed dive and stress testing. The airfield location may be High Point and the display put on by the pilot of excellent quality.
