Summary: British fictional propaganda piece on the rôle of the shipbuilder in winning the war, and a vision of future peace, 1918 (?).
Description: Children running to their working class homes after school represent the future, what "Tommy" and "Jack", returning to their families, are fighting for. The shipyard workers are also part of the war. In future years a retired shipbuilder dozes and dreams of the war. His dream shows ships being launched. In an air raid a German incendiary bomb (shown) kills his wife, leaving him with two small children and her memory. She appears in ghostly form to him in her empty chair, as he makes "his solemn pledge to help his country free the world of Huns". Dreaming on, his son is older and describes enthusiastically a professional football game (shown). Soccer has returned after the war. Further on in time, his daughter's wedding day. As he dreams, his daughter and her husband watch him, with their own baby. He wakes and cuddles the child. The image of "Peace", a classical goddess figure with a Union Jack behind her, calls small children to her side.
