Summary: Two long sequences of unedited footage showing members of 4th/5th Battalion the Royal Irish Rangers (a Territorial Army unit) on weekend training in Kirkcudbright, early 1996.
Description: I. Extremely long continuous take from a single camera position, showing the troops slowly advancing by stealth across country towards an "enemy" position (off-camera); after some time (67 minutes) there is an explosion behind the troops, and they finally engage, advancing with much gunfire and using smoke bombs for cover. As the troops pass, the camera follows them.
II. A field kitchen is set up beside buildings at the training area as troops pack equipment and put it into trucks. As more soldiers arrive, breakfast is served and eaten al fresco. The soldiers then fall in, where they are addressed by their Commanding Officer. (Abrupt end.)
