Summary: Monochrome, silent CCTV footage (from several different cameras) showing troops undergoing training in keeping public order at "Beeston Village" urban training area. The camera number appears in the top left-hand corner of the screen. Note that some of the cameras are black and white, and some colour. The day is very wet which periodically affects the image, although "Camera 2" has a wiper to remove the water.
Description: I. Small groups of "Loyalist" marchers walk down street beating drums: the area is deserted apart from the marchers and various pieces of wreckage (burnt-out cars, pallets etc). Marchers stop at a police/army roadblock, which separates them from a "Nationalist" demonstration. Scuffles start on the "Nationalist" side and rapidly escalate; soon there are squabbles and unrest on both sides contained by various vehicles including barricade lorries. Vehicles and troops redeploy as necessary to move the rioters back. (By this point the screen image is affected by rain on the lens of the camera).
II. Night: troops assemble on foot and in Land Rovers on one of the streets before advancing slowly and pushing back a group of protesters; this group constructs a barricade across one of the streets and throws stones at the security forces. Police vans advance, making way for a mechanical digger. The unrest is contained by a pincer movement along three converging streets by snatch Land Rovers; the vehicles eventually drive away as the "rioters" half-heartedly stone them. Saxon armoured vehicles make their way down street under a hail of missiles at the end of the training session.
