Another group of protesters moves through, boxed in (for their own protection) by police. Bus drives through "behind the lines" (on the edge of the village). Pause in the action. Panning shot of the village. "Action" restarts as police vans are deployed and a crowd can be glimpsed straining against a vehicular roadblock. Soldier on roof of Land Rover beats back protesters. (Camera image is partially obscured as rain begins to fall.) Group of marchers continue on their way, followed by police vehicles; some minor scuffles. Vehicles drive away.
III. Set-up involving a large crowd of protesters blocking a police vehicle convoy: police advance with the aid of troops in riot gear. Protesters are forced back onto streets: petrol bombs are thrown as the situation escalates. Slowly the protesters are contained. Various views of vehicle movements and containment of rioters behind rolling barricade of Land Rovers and Saxons. Scuffles continue. Police station comes under attack. Fighting between army and rioters continues as darkness falls; high-visibility jackets of observers glow strongly. Extended scenes of scuffles on streets. Barricade of wrecked cars is set up, which is pushed aside by mechanical digger. Troops again begin to advance to contain the rioters: group of soldiers are separated and find themselves under attack before breaking for safety. Riot continues for some time.
