Summary: Unedited films of General Inge at his leaving ceremony at Rheindahlen and a military tattoo in his honour.
Description: I. A formal gathering of British and German officers. Lieutenant-General Jörg Schlöbohm, the inspector of the German Army, gives a speech in German. The General presents General Sir Peter Inge, Commander-in-Chief of the British Army of Rhine, with a plaque. General Inge then makes a speech, in English about leaving his post and thanks the Germans for the Grosser Zapfenstreich (military tattoo) held in his honour. He than goes on to talk about the end of the Cold War, the improvement in relations between Russia and the West and how the world now faces new threats, such as international terrorism. He discusses NATO and the work it has done and the continuing need for the organisation. Inge thanks everyone he has worked with and talks about his memories of Rheindahlen.
