Summary: Unedited films of Prince Andrew, Duke of York, the Colonel-in-Chief of the Staffordshires, visiting the 1st Battalion where he inspects troops and is shown the workings of a Warrior infantry fighting vehicle.
Description: I. The band and soldiers of the battalion marching on to a parade ground, watched by families, and standing to attention. Prince Andrew, the new Colonel-in-Chief, arrives by car and mounts a podium and takes the salute of the honour guard as the National Anthem is played. The Prince then inspects the troops.
II. Unedited film of the Colonel of the Staffordshire's giving a press conference on the Prince's appointment as Colonel-in-Chief of the Regiment. Interview with Captain Kevin Stampel who talks about the Duke of York being the first Colonel-in-Chief of the Regiment, the first time the Prince has had a connection with the British Army and the security issues of having him there. Families of the soldiers watch as the Prince and other officers take their seats to observe a demonstration by the Warrior infantry fighting vehicle and infantry.
III. Prince Andrew, the Colonel-in-Chief of the Regiment, viewing the inside of a Warrior infantry fighting vehicle and being presented with a teddy bear by a small girl. The Prince then goes on to speak to families. Interview with the little girl who presented the teddy to the Duke of York, and her family. The Prince then fires the guns of the Warrior at targets on a range.
