Summary: Scenes from the major field exercise Ulan Eagle in 1996.
Description: Troops of the 7th Armoured Brigade in Land Rovers and lorries departing from their barracks at Hohne in Germany. Challenger Armoured Repair and Recovery Vehicles (CHARRV) load onto flatbed railway carriages while troops board trains. Troops washing at outdoor sinks while soldiers of the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards queue for food at a field kitchen. The Brigade's lorries and Land Rovers driving towards the German-Polish border where a British Captain is met by a Polish Captain who welcomes them and gives them instructions about their escort through Poland. Railway yard where British troops and armour wait to move. Bagpiper from the 1st Royal Tank Regiment (1 RTR) plays outside one of the troop trains. The trains move off towards the exercise area. Trains arrive at the exercise area. Challenger Mk1s of 1 RTR move through muddy fields. Challenger main battle tanks and FV432 and Spartan armoured personnel carriers drive along dirt tracks. Inside of a Sultan armoured command vehicle. CHARRVs drive over a small river. Warrior infantry fighting vehicles and Challengers cross a river on a ferry, marshalled by Polish troops. Royal Engineers construct a large bridge which is then crossed by Challengers. British troops involved in a battlefield exercise supported by Warriors. Assembled British and Polish troops watch an open air variety show.
