Summary: Motorised infantry and armour go onto the alert as German counter-attacks probe the 'Scottish Corridor's' eastern flank.
Description: A two man 2-inch mortar team from the 2nd Battalion King's Royal Rifle Corps (KRRC), 4th Armoured Brigade's motorised infantry unit, is seen firing high-explosive bombs on German troops filtering through 15th (Scottish) Division's front from a meadow at Colleville; in the background can be seen M5 halftracks belonging to the 8th Battalion Rifle Brigade's 'F' Company (?). Spotting the mortar's fall of shot is a lance-corporal perched on top of a heavily overgrown stone wall some ten yards away. Crouching low, a KRRC rifleman doubles across the Caen - Villers-Bocage railway followed by a Sherman tank from either the Royal Scots Greys' or the 4th County of London Yeomanry's 'C' Squadron. Riflemen from either the 2nd KRRC or the 8th Rifle Brigade, sheltering by halftracks from sniper fire (?), go onto the alert and scan the surrounding countryside for Germans.
