Description: Part 1. "A Brief Survey of Her Majesty's Navy by Type Only." after stressing the importance of sea power and the cooperation between the Navy and the RAF, illustrative footage of the types of ships in the fleet are shown: battleships, battlecruisers, heavy and light cruisers, destroyers, sloops, minesweepers and aircraft carriers (HMS Ark Royal, returning after the battle of Taranto). Auxiliaries (depot repair ships) and submarines are also featured.
Part 2. Key features which aid recognition of British battleships, battlecruisers and aircraft carriers are demonstrated using diagrams, models and footage of ships including HMS Ark Royal, HMS King George V, HMS Eagle and HMS Warspite (plus footage of the latter bombarding Tobruk).
Part 3. Descriptions of heavy and light cruisers, destroyers, sloops, depot and repair ships accompanied by footage of various vessels at sea.
