Summary: Scenes at the 45 Commando Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Iraq during Operation Snipe.
Description: I. Convoy crosses plain in Afghanistan. At FOB, soldiers dig in (with help from Afghan men); Commandos rest on hillside (cleaning guns, eating compo rations etc) and in gun positions. Chinook helicopters in action. Brief sequence shot with CWS night sight (image intensifier) shows activities at FOB including Chinook take-off. During daylight, another Chinook flies away with an artillery piece underslung. Brief conversation with soldier who says that it is "time to move on... time to find some enemy". Digging in a new gun position. Further talks with soldier (slight pixellation affecting image) and Afghan soldier is seen with RPG (rocket-propelled grenade).
II. Further scenes shot with a CWS night sight: soldiers in full pack assembling and marching. Soldiers deploy from Chinook helicopters. At dawn, soldiers continue to prepare kit. Shot of soldiers inside Chinook. Commandos deploy in the mountains, setting up communications etc: they also patrol and advance into the hills.
