Summary: Members of 45 Commando in the Afghan mountains at the start of Operation Snipe.
Description: Chinook helicopter flies in. Commandos in full camouflage, accompanied by Afghan guides, advance into the mountains. They come across some abandoned shacks, and a lookout post built in a tree. Further advances reveal more abandoned stone huts. Marines erect a simple camouflaged tent/canopy: mortar team test-fires their weapon. Trees and stumps are cut down with chainsaw to clear a makeshift landing area and to help build shelters - Chinook flies in with supplies. Soldiers relax under makeshift tents. Shots of temporary gun and anti-tank positions.
