Summary: Members of C Company, 40 Commando Royal Marines at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Kajaki, taken on 25 October.
Description: Troops leave FOB Kajaki (on foot and in WMIK Land Rovers) for patrol near the Southern FLET (Forward Line of Enemy Troops ie Taliban positions). Patrol visits a permanent vehicle checkpoint (PVCP) manned by Afghan National Police in Kajaki 'Olya. Operations continue: a bar mine is rigged against the wall of a compound and detonated (the concussion causes the camera to malfunction temporarily). Dust clears and troops pass through the hole in the compound wall. (Shaky ground shots as the camera man takes a break.) Incoming fire from Taliban positions: the Marines group behind a wall. A second bar mine is prepared and detonated (again affecting the camera). Troops gather. Night scenes shot with image intensifier: troops advance, and incoming fire can be heard. A 51mm mortar is set up and fired at enemy positions; snipers also fire. A larger 81mm mortar is prepared.
