Summary: Army commandos attached to 1st Special Service Brigade receive French francs in lieu of pounds sterling for their pay and let off steam during the long period of waiting for D-Day.
Description: I. Troops serving with No 6 Commando are issued with French invasion currency during a pay parade in C18 camp near Southampton. A member of the Commando's cycle troop demonstrates how to ride a foldable bicycle which has a carrier frame fitted in front of the handlebars in which he has placed his kit. Many bicycles are seen stacked together sheltered by trees. A fully equipped commando is seen with a collapsible 4-man dinghy stowed in his bicycle carrier in text book fashion.
II. Signallers serving with the Special Service Brigade's HQ play 'craps' with invasion currency. Washing is left to dry on tent guy ropes. A Frenchman from No 10 (Inter-Allied) Commando has his hair cut. Guy ropes are threaded through tent hooks (?). Two pugilists slug it out in an improvised boxing ring while others play basket-ball on the camp's sports grounds.
