Summary: Activities of X Company, 45 Commando Royal Marines, at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Nolay, south of Sangin, as part of Operation Ghartse Palang.
Description: Early sequence shows aerial views during a flight from Camp Bastion to FOB Nolay on board a CH-47 Chinook helicopter (flag at the beginning is at the helicopter landing site). Image intensifier sequence: X Company moves out on foot patrol. Morning scenes as the patrol, accompanied by Afghan National Army members, continues; various compounds are searched. Discussions with local man through interpreter. Patrol advances on a large compound, where ladders are put up against the wall; a warning shot is fired at a "dicker" (a suspected Taliban look-out). The compound is entered and searched, inside and outside; search dogs are used. Ammunition (poor condition 105mm shells - two empty - and a projectile for a SPG-9 Kopye 73mm recoilless rifle). Interview with Major Richard Maltby (CO X Company) about operations. Scenes at X Company's temporary patrol base in an abandoned compound.
