Summary: Members of 1st Battalion the Rifles, accompanied by the Afghan National Army (ANA), continue their operations in the Nawa-i-Barakzayi district.
Description: Convoy of British and Afghan vehicles cross a shallow but fast-moving river; one ANA pick-up truck becomes stranded and is towed out of the water. Most of the other vehicles (including further pick-ups, Pinzgauer trucks and Land Rovers) drive through without incident, apart from two ANA pick-ups, which are recovered by Pasi armoured vehicles of the Estonian Army (Maavägi).
Aftermath of an IED (improvised explosive device) strike on the British/Afghan convoy): smoke and dust can be seen rising in the distance, where troops gather round stricken vehicles. (Camera is in the back of a truck some distance away from the strike.) Red flares are set off to identify landing site for two Black Hawk helicopters which fly in with members of MERT (Medical Emergency Response Team); casualties are carried to the helicopter in slings. Close-up shots of WMIK Land Rover badly damaged by the IED.
Brief shots of vehicles passing over temporary bridge into Garmsir (GMR).
