- Summary: Members of B Company 2nd Battalion The Royal Gurkha Rifles (2RGR) take part in Operation Mar Nonu in the Musa Qala district. Final part of patrol, involving a further engagement with Taliban forces before their return to the patrol base.
- Description: Captain Will Pilkington talks with Afghan National Police (ANP) members (inspecting a 35mm camera) before patrol stars. Outside, Warrior vehicles. Firing line on roof of compound: Captain Gajendra Angdembe, OC 6 Troop speaks to camera, noting how there has been no further enemy activity since the previous day. Almost immediately, however, a 2RGR sniper notices a Taliban member (not visible on screen) and fires. Further shots are fired (the enemy was reportedly killed but there is no visual evidence of this). Views inside the compound's courtyard. Warrior amoured vehicles advance towards the compound which had been targeted the previous day, throwing up clouds of dust as they go. They fire their guns at unseen targets. Meanwhile, in the compound, the patrol and their civilian hosts prepare food; a group of soldiers led by Captain Emily Peers (2RGR) play cards with local men. End of patrol: the Gurkhas, with the Afghan National Army and Afghan National Police, make their way back to Patrol Base South near Musa Qala. Views inside the base, with Warrior and Mastiff vehicles. Members of B Company relax; Jackal vehicles. Debriefing at sunset by Major Ross Daines (OC B Company) and Lieutenant Colonel Chris Darby (CO 2RGR) address the company; the major announcement is the death of Rifleman Yubraj Rai also of B Company 2nd Battalion, who had been killed on patrol, the first Gurkha to have died during the Afghan conflict. The two officers are interviewed in detail about the battle seen earlier (four enemy are reported dead).
