Summary: Members of 1st Battalion the Royal Gurkha Rifles (1RGR) and 1st Battalion the Rifles (1 RIFLES) undergo a series of drills in preparation for deployment to Afghanistan.
Description: Before the exercises start, members of the battalion are briefed by Captain Gajendra Angdembe (of 2RGR). Manoeuvres get underway, involving a vehicle convoy comprising Jackals, Pinzgauer lorries, Land Rovers and Viking tracked vehicles. Combat exercises include roadside anti-ambush measures and CH47 Chinook helicopters moving equipment trailers. Simulated casualty evacuation (CASEVAC) with members of 1st Battalion the Rifles (with gruesome fake injuries including severed limbs) and debriefing. Attack sequences featuring 1 RIFLES and 1RGR. On the range, 105mm self-propelled gun and WMIK Land Rovers guard convoy. "Afghan" soldier with rocket propelled grenade. Soldier plays with a live vole that he has discovered on the range. WMIK Land Rovers stave off an ambush.
