Summary: Batteries of 29 Commando Regiment Royal Artillery set up their guns and fire on Basra; also night deployment by A Company, 40 Commando.
Description: The artillery pieces seen being brought in on the previous tape - 105mm guns - are set up into position and prepared for firing; coordinates are typed into fire control laptop and targets are plotted on chart. Lengthy static shots of the guns being prepared before they are eventually fired. Sea King helicopter flies past with underslung load. Close shots of gun being prepared, loaded (with shells and charges) and fired several times in succession. Further views of the line of guns (there are eight of them): they are seen firing in rapid succession. During a lull in the firing, the gunners listen to the news on the radio (BBC).
Night scenes, shot using image intensifier (circular monocrhrome screen) show A Company, 40 Commando, making their way on foot down a desert road, supported by WMIK Land Rovers and other vehicles. Further troops are brought in by Chinook helicopter. After deployment, the Chinook flies away, and the Commandos make their way along the road towards the camera.
