Sign "STOP BOOK IN": Land Rover arrives and the driver signs in with soldier on duty. Camouflaged vehicles and tents, panning shots of the makeshift camp. Morning ablutions: soldier shaves in the open air. Sign "DES & KITS" against a pile of rucksacks and pouches. Soldiers gather and talk during a coffee break. Field kitchen. Close-up of Roman Missal next to a gun. Sign "Headquarters 3 Commando Brigade Royal Marines"; Commandos stand around in conversation. Further general views: Marines preparing, piles of kit, panning shots, motorcycle. Sergeant Bloomer writes his name in permanent marker on his uniform. Television crew with satellite equipment deliver: reporter David Bowden records a message for a Sky News bulletin. He talks to "Kit", one of the soldiers at Camp Viking (running the field kitchen), and Marine Dave Bush (a veteran of the previous Gulf War). Soldiers on range. Further panning shots, this time at Camp Alice 2 ("pop 198"), where soldiers are taking shelter under bashas (these are members of 40 Commando). General activities at the camp; Marines relax and attend an impromptu briefing. Diggers excavate sand at the edge of the camp. Panning shots of the camp. Sea King helicopters move supplies. Union flag next to Basha. Semi derelict building containing a nuclear , biological and chemical defence cache, including monitors and auto-injectors. Some of the crates are marked "Ministry of Defence AS Directorate Baghdad Iraq". Exterior wall is peppered peppered with bullets and shell holes (possibly from the invasion of Kuwait). Back at camp: soldiers wash small items of clothing, others relax. Sand bags are filled. Pylon. Soldier on quad bike. Views of buildings near Az Zubayr: sign "Ministry of Transport & Communication General Company for Ports of Iraq Khor Al Zubair Port": inside the building are British administrative sections. One area is marked " Secret Area Media Entry Only By Invitation"; it contains a large operations room. Outside views; sign "United Kingdom Landing Force Commando Support Group". Inside a large port building, rents are set up and soldiers exercise. Tent marked "St David's Church": inside, candles and voltive lights burn. Makeshift kitchen area; soldiers relax and eat compo rations, others amuse themselves in various ways, including climbing a rope and taking a cigarette break. Sign "Supermarket". Helicopter park. Messages home from soldiers at Camp Viking (few of whom are named).
