Summary: The amphibious version of the new FV438 vehicle, soon to be the platform for the Swingfire missile, undergoes swimming trials in the estuary of the River Taw.
Description: FV438 (with flotation screen, one that appears lower than usual) drives in and out of the water. Out in the water (accompanied by DUKW), and across mud flats. Various attempts to drive ashore at an angle lead to some awkward tilting, and large gouges in the sand. Close-ups of the vehicle's tracks and also of the ruts made by driving across the sand. Further shots out in the estuary water; smoke pours from the vehicle's exhaust. FV438 comes ashore (in slow motion).
