Trials of the Alvis Stalwart amphibious truck at AXE (the Amphibious Experimental Establishment) and in the River Taw.
Description:
Stalwart in and out of the water (accompanied by DUKW. At AXE, the Stalwart is loaded with five pallets of matériel by Michigan fork lift tractor; it then drives through a dip tank. Scenes on the beach near Instow and in the water (fully laden), and driving through dry sand and dunes, rough terrain where the vehicle occasionally becomes stuck (an accompanying DUKW assists in winching the Stalwart free). Further scenes in the water and in the dip tank are followed by the Stalwart being unloaded and inspected.
