Summary: Members of the RAF Regiment go on patrol in Basra, aimed at checking previous points of IDF (indirect fire) on Basra Air Station and attempting to interdict the movement of illegal weapons. Illumination rounds are fired over Basra.
Description: Very dark footage at beginning (shot with standard lens), followed by night shots of illumination rounds being fired above Basra. Banter between the team can be heard. Gunner on top cover of Mastiff is silhouetted against the flares. Voiceover by Captain Lorna Ward describes the situation. Eventually, the back door of the Mastiff is opened and the crew step out: dawn is breaking. Views along road outside Basra. Captain Ward takes assumes the role of camerawoman, giving us a rare glimpse of video cameraman Corporal Andy Holmes, and also still cameraman Ralph Merry. Mood is till very informal.
