Description: Members of the patrol receive a briefing with maps at Basra Palace before departure. Soldiers prepare their weapons at unloading point before setting off in a Land Rover (cameraman rides shotgun). In Basra, a soldier helps to fix the engine of a police pick-up truck. Soldiers and Iraqi police prepare outside Ashar Police Station - sign "Basrah Policement Department Ashaar Policmen Station" [sic]. Iraqi Police pose for the camera in a group. Patrol is followed through back streets and into the market area. General views of patrol and of stalls, including a shoe stall. Patrol leader talks with local man. Patrol continues through the market and then along a small canal: soldiers stand on bridge and talk to local elder. Street patrol views including shot of mosque. Local men smile for the camera. Land Rovers parked outside the Rafidain Bank (Istiklal St Branch): tapes run from the back of one vehicle to the door of the bank, suggesting some sort of temporary barrier. Shots of top gunner on moving Land Rover returning from patrol. Back at base: exterior of the Company Office of A Company, brief interview with officer and shots of the Hesco barrier outside A Company's barracks with soldier on guard. Second interview sequence after break in time code.
