Description: Soldiers prepare their small assault boats in the lagoon at Basra Palace. The boats set out; camera crew (including stills photographer) are in a small assault craft. Views of the accompanying boats and of the boat's pilot (a Royal Engineer). Members of the RRF lie prone in the front of their boat, their guns "ready". Various views of the craft and of the shores of the Shatt al-Arab; port facilities are passed and areas of date palms. Crossing under temporary bridge. Children wave from the shore. One boat pulls alongside a small canopied craft and members of the RRF climb on board for a routine check; camerawoman takes photographs. Later on the patrol: boats travel at speed along tree-lined stretch of river (an inlet of the Shatt al-Arab, churning up much wash. Marsh Arabs fishing near the reeds. Basra Palace lagoon: the boats are moored. Interview with patrol members about their security role in support of the Iraqi Riverine Patrol Service and their experiences during patrol.
