- Summary: Members of 8 Platoon, 3rd Battalion the Parachute Regiment, based at FOB Price near Gereshk, on a 24-hour patrol in their WMIK Land Rovers accompanied by armoured carriers of the Estonian Ground Force. Scenes include patrol outside village at dusk, patrol movements at night (image intensifier), convoy moving to second village in the morning, briefing by Lieutenant Chris Hutchins followed by scenes before and during patrol of the village.
- Description: SHOTSHEET (copied, without amendment, from accompanying Defence Media Operations Centre computer disc): START 00:30:00 Silhouettes of soldiers and WMIK are on ridge line as the local mosque sends out the call to prayer. 02:20:00 Soldiers withdrawing from village as call to prayer still happening. 04:04:00 Locals watching their flock as soldiers leave village. 05:00:00 More soldiers moving along ridge in twilight. 05:34:00 Image intensifier fitted. Footage of convoy moving around at night moving to a harbour position. 07:30:00 At Harbour position. Stand too prior to moving out. 09:44:00 Shots of vehicles moving into the sunrise and towards another village on the morning of the 19 jun-06. 14:20:00 Foot patrol dropped off and vehicles move away to set up a mortar position. 14:45:00 Lt Chris Hutchins briefs the troop leaders on the patrol plan. 16:15:00 Foot patrol moves into the village. A stray dog attacked one of the Sergeants so he shot it. 22:50:00 Soldiers moving across crop field towards village. 24:03:00 An Afghan farmer ploughing his field. 24:31:00 Lt Hutchins asks a local farmer about the problems he and his family are experiencing with the Taliban etc. Interpreter is very softly spoken which makes it hard to understand the farmers answers. 30:57:00 Farmers sifting grain by hand. 31:47:00 Soldiers moving through fields. Lt Hutchins questions 2 more farmers about the Taliban. 39:30:00 Soldiers moving through narrow alleyway with curious Afghan children following. 40:39:00 Soldiers taking a five minute rest in the shade. 41:21:00 Soldiers moving along a river bank. 42:50:00 Soldiers crossing bridge and being pulled up steep bank. 46:12:00 Lt Hutchins talking to a local again. 50:22:00 Lt Hutchins PTC about what he is trying to achieve but doing the patrol. He trips over his words mid sentence. 51:09:00 Soldiers moving out of the village through enclosed roads. 51:53:00 Tape ends.
