Summary: Coverage of the visit by Des Browne MP, Secretary of State for Defence, to the Type 23 frigate HMS Kent (F78) in the Persian Gulf.
Description: Mr Browne is taken by Sea King helicopter from Basra Air Station to HMS Kent; scenes on board the aircraft, including aerial shots of British flotilla, including flypast of the ships. Helicopter lands on board HMS Kent. Inside, Mr Browne meets informally with members of the crew in the junior ranks' mess. Mr Browne and his party are lowered into an inflatable boat and journey to visit the Al Basra Oil Terminal (ABOT), an offshore oil terminal and depot for tankers. He tours the terminal, with a member of the US Army as a guide; he watches operations and discusses the facility. (Vessels moored at ABOT include the tanker Front Commander and the ships Bunga Kasturi Dua and Prem Putli.) Mr Browne returns to HMS Kent where he visits the bridge and meets the captain. Patrol vessel (Kuwaiti ?) passes.
