Summary: The various jobs of the Auxiliary Territorial Service.
Description: After opening shots of drill, the introduction of a 'new girl' initiates explanation and film of the ATS's role in driving lorry convoys; similarly a briefing for 'new officers' about their responsibility for the happiness of women in several fields leads into film of ATS as stores clerks, typists, telephonists, cooks, and orderlies, while commentary speaks of generous leave, policy of keeping friends together etc. Film shows women relaxing, having their hair done, playing games, at a dance (a conversation at the dance becomes an explanation of teleprinter use). As a practical demonstration of women's equal standing with men in the army, an AA post is shown ("in action") with ATS in command-post and on rangefinders, men on gun. Film ends with a recruiting appeal.
