Description: Shot of Corporal Wayne Beeching (RAF still photographer, who appears at various times during the tape): here he is seen on top cover of a Snatch Land Rover. At observation point, 81mm mortars are set up, aimed and loaded. Whispered interview with Squadron Leader Jason Sutton (OC 1 Squadron) about the task (firing illumination flares to draw any potential indirect fire away from the Contingency Operating Base at Basra Ai Station). Further preparations: Corporal Beeching takes photographs. The mortars are readied and several illuminating flare is fired followed, at length, by others. Extended sequences of mortars being adjusted by torchlight and fired. Sequence with normal camera: no image except during firing; then normal image of crews setting up. Flares in the sky: soldiers briefly silhouetted against them. Image intensifier shots of the marshes and of Corporal Beeching at work. Shots of WMIK Land Rover with mounted gun with Corporal Beeching again. Whispered interview with Senior Aircraftman Sean Levitt, commander of WMIK about his observation role.
