  • Summary: HRH Prince Edward, the Duke of Wessex, attends a memorial ceremony at the Argentinean Cemetery near Darwin, Falkland Islands, and then visits the Mount Pleasant Complex (MPC) where British forces are based.
  • Description: Close-ups of the Argentinean memorial, and brief view over the graves. Helicopter arrives bringing the Prince and his party (including Secretary of State for Defence Adam Ingram and His Excellency Adam Huckle) arrive and are greeted by padre, who talks with the Prince. The prince and most others are in civilian dress. Low key ceremony at the large cross memorial within the cemetery. Prayers and readings before the Prince, Adam Ingram and a senior naval officer (Captain of HMS Exeter ?) lay wreaths. Views of the cemetery with its rows of white crosses. Prince meets a group of British soldiers. Further shots of the cemetery, the memorials and the wreaths. Scenes at Mount Pleasant Complex. Soldiers (2nd Battalion the Rifles), wearing cam cream, pose by their BV tracked vehicle and set up a display of weaponry to show to the visitors. Prince Edward arrives at MPC; he is now in a camouflage suit and beret, in his role as Royal Colonel of the regiment. He greets soldiers and tries his hand firing an SA80 rifle on the range. (The target is inspected: "pretty good actually" says one of the officers.) Interior of hangar where Tornado aircraft is undergoing maintenance; Prince Edward climbs into the cockpit and discusses the aircraft with an officer. Later, air crew are seen getting into the aircraft, which taxies and takes off.
