Description: Scenes on board the Chinook helicopter used by MERT: members of the Team prepare for take-off: Lieutenant Colonel Ian Nesbit describes the situation to camera (a member of ISAF has received head trauma at a Forward Operating Base). Preparation for take-off: medics and members of the Quick Reaction Team (QRF) tasked with protection take their seats. Helicopter takes off and flies to the FOB, where the casualty (in a deep state of unconsciousness) is quickly stretchered on board from the back of a Supacat all terrain vehicle. During the flight back to Camp Bastion, the patient is attended to. On arrival, he is stretchered into the back of a battlefield ambulance

Night flight on MERT Chinook, shot with image intensifier, as the helicopter responds to pick up casualties caught in an ambush: Lieutenant Colonel Nesbit's voice can be heard commenting on how difficult it can be landing at night time. Helicopter lands and QRF disembark to check the area and support in the retrieval of the casualties, who are stretchered aboard (or, in some cases, walk on). (There are five of them.) They are attended to in the poorly lit helicopter. during the flight back.. Aerial views of Bastion as the helicopter comes in to land. On arrival, the casualties are loaded into an ambulance. The helicopter flies off for the next pick-up.
