Summary: Scenes from Operation Maturin, an earthquake disaster relief operation in Pakistan: Chinook helicopters of RAF 27 Squadron are assembled and flown at Chaklala Air Base, Islamabad, Pakistan.
Description: Three Chinook helicopters from 27 Squadron, which have been shipped from their base at RAF Odiham, are reassembled at Chaklala Air Base. Work continues; two of the helicopters are still without their rotor blades. Mi-171 helicopters of the Pakistan Air Force are also seen.
The first of the Chinooks to be reassembled powers up its engines and taxies for a "test flight"; shots of the aircraft in flight (hovering over the air base. On the ground, one of the other two Chinooks is towed by a truck into a new position; its sister aircraft lands and taxies into line behind it. Personnel relax by tents.
Supplies (including bedding and sleeping bags) are loaded onto brightly-coloured lorries by Pakistani troops. Further supplies are unloaded from a Boeing 747 jet (B-2473 of China Southern Cargo Airlines) and are stacked up on the ground.
