Description: a. Noise of gunfire disturbs domestic animals; small groups of refugees on road, receive food in a tower; refugee children. b. War damage to church property: Madonna intact in a wrecked church, other damaged buildings, shattered crucifix, shelled graveyard. c. (Commentary starts) German attacks alleged on hospital ships and neutral US ambulances (bullet holes, a retrieved bullet). d. US Memorial Day: various ceremonies in Paris; some representatives of US volunteers in French Forces 1914-18 present, also Premier Paul Reynaud and US Ambassador Bullitt. War Memorial, Arc de Triomphe, cemetery etc. American Legion representative reads a prayer. Film of the grave and scene of the death (in aerial combat, 1918) of Lieutenant Quentin Roosevelt, son of President Theodore Roosevelt; also some contemporary film of Quentin Roosevelt. c. Shot-down German aircraft, wrecked armoured car. German POWs are fed, wounded are treated etc (this sequence included to refute German charges of massacre of POWs, especially airmen, by French). f. An enormous railway gun is made ready to fire.
