Summary: The concluding reel of a short feature film.
Description: For reasons both of incompleteness and language, this synopsis is only provisional. Two men are talking over a game of chess in a blacked out house; one appears to be trying to talk the other into working with him (for the Germans ?), the other (Professor) is not enthusiastic, but the first man produces a photograph and a letter which provide an opening for blackmail. Their dialogue is interrupted by the doorbell: it is a telegraph boy. The Professor reads the cable, leaves the door ajar and returns to the room where the conversation was taking place; suddenly he flings open the curtains, and attacks the other man. Reacting as if to an expected contingency, a man rushes in from the garden, to find the Professor and the corpse of the other man; the man from the garden starts to telephone (the police ?) when he notices the telegram. He picks it up - it is official notice from London of the death of "his son, the squadron leader": he looks at the Professor with understanding.
